  5. Treasurer's report: Mr. Bednarek reported the current balance is $10,785.68. He noted that this is almost entirely due to the MAA Junior Olympic team not going this year due to rare and unforeseen circumstances or the MAA-GBC would have very little money in account to conduct business.
b. Ms. Merlino noted that the MAA owes girls basketball $1,500 for its annual donation but has not paid yet. Mr. Deegan said he is told the money is on its way.

c. The treasurer's report was accepted unanimously.

  1. Mr. Fedak and Mr. Deegan both offered help with running the MAA-GBC web site to help keep expenses down
  2.  National report from Mr. Deegan.
The following major changes were made for the 2005 AAU season at the national convention:
    1. The 18-and-under division has been changed to 19-and-under.
    2. 10-and-under teams that do not win the regional championship but qualify for Div. 1 nationals will have the option to play at Div. II nationals.
    3. There will be a 9-and-under age group added.
    4. 17-year-olds who are in 11th grade will be allowed to compete in the 16-and-under division. Seniors who are 17 must play in 17?s or 19?s and 18-year-old juniors must play in the 19?s.
  1. For the MAA-GBC championships, it was voted unanimously that if a club has a 17-and-under junior who wants to play in the 16's they must produce either a report card, a transcript or a letter from the school's athletic director or principal stating their current grade (no photocopies). NO player will be allowed to play until proper documentation is in the hands of the tournament director or their designated representative.
    1. It is encouraged that clubs bring such documentation to seeding meeting to make it easier for tournament director.
9.  The host clubs for the 2005 Middle Atlantic Association championships were then voted upon. The winning clubs and their dates are:

9's & 10's: Bucks County Wildcats, April 30-May 1

11's: NE Rockers: May 6-8

12's: Fencor: May 6-8

13's: Tar Heels: April 30-May 1

14's: Renegades: May 13-15

15's: Comets: May 6-8

16's: Scranton: April 30-May 1

17 & 19's: Scranton: May 7-8

    1. Since Lehigh Valley and Delaware Wildcats bid but did not receive a tournament, they will get first choice the following year if they bid again.
    2. Championship Sunday will be held May 22 at a site to be determined. All finals in every age group except 9's, 17's and 19's will be held there. Teams hosting regionals will give $150 to club hosting event to help with expenses. Proceeds from this day will go to MAA-GBC fund.
  1. The money designated for the 2004 Junior Olympic team will remain with the MAA-GBC to use as it sees fit.
  2. A committee was appointed to investigate the feasibility of fielding a MAA team for the 2005 Junior Olympics in New Orleans. A MAA-GBC meeting will be held in January with the JO Games team to be the sole subject of the meeting.
  3. A rule was added to by-laws involving coaches who remove team from floor before end of game. It stated:

If a team fails to complete a game without the agreement of the referees the coach(es) responsible will be denied an AAU card the following year.? Coaches retain the right to appeal to the MAA-GBC infractions committee.

  1. The fee for playing in regionals was raised to $425 per team with $25 going to fund the MAA-GBC. Ms. Merlino noted that in boys AAU its committee asks for much more money from clubs than the girls.
